South West Trains plan to include all 5 former Eurostar platforms at Waterloo international to expand the capacity of the station by 10,000 passengers at peak time, when it comes into use in 2019.
South West Trains are also aiming to get a new fleet of metro style trains that will replace the current class 455. The new EMU units are specified to be able to operate as a 3, 5 and 10 carriage trains. The first of these trains are scheduled to enter service in july 2016, with the rest of the fleet being delivered in 12 months.
